Therapeutic. Adaptive. Intentional.

We do not run generic activity schedules. Every curriculum delivered by KiKi's Recreation is built around four core domains: social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. Programs include structured treatment plans, behavioral objectives, psychoeducational and processing components, assessments, progress notes, homework assignments, and documentation. The result is programming that is both clinically grounded and genuinely enjoyable.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Recreational therapy uses meaningful activities like art, music, movement, gardening, sports, and games to improve physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. It's different from physical therapy (which focuses on strength) and occupational therapy (which focuses on daily living skills). Recreational therapy focuses on quality of life — helping you reconnect with joy, build confidence, and engage with the world in ways that feel good to you.

  • Recreational therapy supports a wide range of people, including adults living with intellectual or developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health challenges, dementia, and veterans navigating life after service. We currently serve adults 18 and older, with plans to expand into programs for at-risk youth.

  • Sessions are offered in-home and out in the community across Southwest Florida. We come to you, or we meet at a location that supports your goals — a park, a community center, a creative space, or wherever your therapy is most meaningful.

  • Physical therapy focuses on strength and mobility. Occupational therapy focuses on daily living skills like dressing or cooking. Recreational therapy focuses on enjoyment, engagement, and quality of life — using activities you love (or used to love) to support your overall well-being.

  • Most recreational therapy services in Florida are private pay because insurance coverage is limited in our state. We're actively researching waiver programs for intellectual and developmental disabilities and exploring funding options like Step Up For Students for eligible homeschool families. We'll always be upfront about costs before starting.

  • Reach out through our contact page or call us directly. We'll set up a free conversation to learn about your needs, answer questions, and decide together if recreational therapy is the right fit. From there, we'll build a personalized plan.
